Raymond P. Gailitis, MD FACS is a board-certified fellowship-trained refractive and corneal transplant surgeon who specializes in laser vision correction. He is the co-founder of The Center for LASIK, which is dedicated to state-of-the-art vision correction surgery.
Dr. Gailitis has been qualified and listed with Trusted LASIK Surgeons, an online LASIK directory that screens surgeons based on experience, premier patient care, and professional credentials. He has also been selected by his peers to be listed as a South Florida “SuperDoctor”. Haute Living selected him as their featured LASIK surgeon in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Southwest Airlines recently featured him as one of the “Best LASIK Surgeons in America”
Dr. Gailitis is certified by the prestigious Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance, a non-profit consumer advocacy group that monitors, evaluates, and verifies physician quality and outcomes.
Dr. Gailitis has been performing refractive surgery in Southeast Florida for the past 3 decades. He was one of the first surgeons in the region to perform LASIKand the first surgeon in South Florida to perform the Intacs procedure.
Dr. Gailitis is also one of the select surgeons in the country certified to implant the Intra Ocular Collamer Lens (ICL). He was the principal investigator in an FDA study concerning CustomCornea treatment in farsighted patients with the LADARVision laser system. He has taught many physicians nationally and internationally.
Dr. Gailitis has been featured on the nationally televised program “Ground Floor” performing laser vision correction. He was also interviewed on Channel 4 CBS medical news discussing hyperopic LASIK.
He has served as a radio consultant on LASIK for KWRE in St. Louis, KLIC in Minnesota, the Louisiana Radio Network, and WWNN on the Steve Kane show. Dr. Gailitis is the author of numerous articles on lasers and refractive surgery and holds several patents in the field. In 1991 he published one of the seminal articles on a new laser to perform refractive surgery. He is an author of the popular book entitled “LASIK Vision Correction”.
Dr. Gailitis has done charitable work in Eastern Europe and has served as a visiting professor on project ORBIS teaching doctors internationally. He lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife Sonia and children Dane, Marissa, and Peter. Dr. Gailitis enjoys excellent vision after his own LASIK procedure.
