We all want to look our very best for summer. It seems everyone is focused on getting into gear, going to the gym, and eating healthy. But what do you do about the frown lines, or troubling eye crinkles? In the past there hasn't been much you could do about those age defining wrinkles - that is until Botox was introduced as a treatment for those fine lines that develop over time. Since then Botox has been used by over 11 women and men. So how does Botox work?
By injecting Botox into the muscles around the brow, it blocks the nerve impulses that are going to the muscle. Therefore it reduces your wrinkles.
Are Botox injections painful? Most needle injections do cause a little discomfort, but if you are able to have your blood drawn you are able to withstand the pain of a Botox injection. Also the area can be numbed upon your request so you don't feel a thing.
Will results look natural? A treatment like Botox will not dramatically alter your facial appearance, or make it look as if you've "had work done." However the muscle activity that causes the wrinkles has been temporarily reduced by the Botox injection. Allowing you to still look surprised or frown without the deep wrinkles and creases you originally didn't want to see anymore.
How quickly will I see results and how long will they last? Improvements of your wrinkles should be noticeable within days, and your wrinkles and creases should continue to improve for up to 30 days. Like all treatments your own result may vary slightly as everyone's body reacts a little different. Talking to your doctor is the best way to determine when your next appointment should be. If you don't continue your treatments, the wrinkles will gradually return to the way they looked before you started treatment.
